AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team completed a series sleep with a 13-7 victory over Whittier College. Chris Morrow earned a series cycle with a homer to right field at Gardner-Boggs Field.
The Poets got on the board early with a homer in the first. The Tornados knotted the game up in the bottom of the of the second with the solo homer by Morrow. They then took the lead with a couple errant pitches and a RBI-single by Matthew Armes to score Jake Townsend.
Whittier answered with a pair of runs to take a 3-2 lead in the third, but CTX responded with a seven runs of their own on six hits and two walks for a 9-3 advantage entering the fourth. Armes made it a 11-3 game in the fourth with a bases-loaded, two-RBI single that scored Morrow & Kalen Clark. The lead was then extended to 12-3 when a sacrifice fly by Zach Seigrist scored Jake Townsend going into the fifth.
The Poets posted two runs in the top of the frame, but Concordia pushed the lead back up to eight runs with a RBI-single by Morrow to score Aaron Gomez. After scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh, a run by the Poets made it 13-6. They then notched one more in the ninth, but that would not be enough as CTX cruised to the victory.

Concordia Texas will now resume conference play next weekend in Longview, Texas against LeTourneau University. First pitch is set for Friday, March 15th at 4pm.
