LONGVIEW, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team outlasted both the weather and LeTourneau University in a 5-0, game one victory. Dakota Palmer & Brady Staedtler combined for a three-hit shutout at Conrad-Vernon Field on Saturday.
Neither team scored through the first three frames before, Concordia Texas broke through with a RBI-double by Colby Christian to score Efren Sanchez Jr. Chris Morrow then rounded Christian around the bases with a RBI-single through the right side.Â
CTX added another pair of runs in the top of the fifth as a sacrifice bunt by Samuel Ortiz scored Zach Seigrist & a sacrifice fly by Christian made it a 4-0 game. The game was then delayed for over seven hours in the seventh due to lightning. After the game resumed, a sacrifice fly by Seigrist scored Mason DuBois in the eighth for the final run of the game.
Concordia Texas will now take on LeTourneau University in a doubleheader beginning at noon. Due to impending weather the game's site has been changed to Hallsville High School in Hallsville, Texas.
