AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team was victorious in a non-conference doubleheader against Sul Ross State University. Colby Christian & Chris Morrow both homered, while Mason Brandenberger recorded a pair of saves at Kokernot Field on Friday.

GAME ONE: W, 4-3 (7 Innings)

With Julian Swift & Aaron Gomez in scoring position, Morrow put the Tornados on the board with a two-RBI double in the third inning. The Lobos got the deficit in half with a run in the fourth frame.

Looking for insurance runs, Concordia found it in the final inning when Christian hammered a two-run homer to centerfield for a 4-1 lead. Christian's homerun would prove to be much needed as Sul Ross made it a 4-3 game, before Brandenberger made the save to secure the game one victory.

GAME TWO: W, 13-11 (10 Innings)

The Lobos jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first inning. The Tornados showed life in the fifth, beginning with a RBI-single up the middle by Gomez to score Samuel Ortiz. Christian then stepped up to the plate and scored Swift with a sacrifice fly. Gomez then made it a 4-3 game when he capitalized on a wild pitch.

Sul Ross tallied a run in the sixth, but Concordia added two in the top of the seventh to tie the game. The Lobos answered in the bottom of the seventh with four runs, but a two-RBI homerun by Morrow  made it a 9-7 game heading into the eighth. 

Down to their final three outs, a groundout RBI by Swift reduced the Lobos' lead to 9-8. Later in the inning, Brandon Goynes put the ball in a play and a fielding error by Sul Ross was able to allow Gomez & Ortiz to score and take a 10-9 lead. CTX would then gain an insurance run via a Morrow RBI-single. 

The Lobos would knot the game up in the bottom of the ninth at 11-all to send the game into extra innings. Swift would sail a sacrifice fly to send Matthew Armes home to regain the lead. Gomez would then single through the right side to score Zach Seigrist to up the advantage to 13-11. Sul Ross would put two runners on base in the bottom of the inning, but Brandenberger would record two strikeouts to complete the comeback victory.

Concordia Texas will now cap off the series with Sul Ross tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1pm.
