AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas men's head coach Nick Mims has announced his resignation after seven excellent seasons. Coach Mims ends his tenure with 65 career wins, the most in program history.
Coach Mims joined the Tornados in 2017, and has never experienced a losing season. He ends his CTX coaching career with the program's first ever ASC Tournament championship (2021), one ASC regular season title (2022), and seven consecutive trips to the ASC postseason tournament. Under coach Mims' guidance, Concordia Texas has also made an appearance in the ASC Tournament Championship Match in four of the last five seasons.
Upon the news of Coach Mim's resignation, Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Ronda Seagraves said, "I want to thank Coach Mims for his tireless work with our men's soccer team and the Concordia University community. Our men's soccer team has thrived under his leadership, dedication, and commitment to developing athletes and young men. We will miss Coach Mims and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors."
Nick Mims also left a lasting impact on his student-athletes who excelled on and off the field. The Tornados fielded over 40 All-ASC selections, four ASC Offensive Player of the Year recipients, three ASC Defensive Player of the Year recipients, two ASC Goalkeeper of the Year recipients, one ASC Midfielder of the Year recipient and a plethora of other ASC, All-Region X, and All-CSC honors. Often times, Coach Mims and the CTX coaching staff would have the team attend seminars and extracurricular activities to obtain skillsets for the future as well.
Reflecting on his time at Concordia, the three-time ASC Men's Soccer Coach of the year stated "It has truly been a pleasure to lead the CTX men's soccer program over the last 7 years. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved on the field but more importantly the growth we have seen off of it. I am grateful to every single student-athlete, coach, and staff member that has been a part of growing this program's legacy. It is really a special group of people and I cannot wait to watch the continued growth. #LLMM10".
We would like to extend our fullest gratitude to Coach Mims. We appreciate your commitment and the postive impact you've had on the team and University!
