MARSHALL, Texas - In the first round of the NCAA Regional, the Concordia Texas baseball team conquered Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by a score of 13-7 . Colby Christian homered twice & launched a grand slam at Woods Field on Friday.

The Tornados struck first with back-to-back RBI doubles by Chris Morrow & Christian in the top of the third. Later in the inning, Brandon Goynes & Matthew Armes recorded RBIs to push the lead to 4-0.

CTX loaded the bases with only one out when Julian Swift collected a hit-by-pitch RBI that scored Efren Sanchez Jr. Aaron Gomez followed suit with a RBI-single to score Matthew Armes. Morrow then scored Zach Seigrist with a RBI-walk. Clearing the bases was Christian who powered his grand slam to left center for an 11-0 advantage.

Claremont tallied a couple of runs to make it a 11-4 game heading into the sixth. They then added a couple of more to trim their deficit to 11-7 heading into the eighth. It would be Christian who put on the finishing touches with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to help secure the victory.

Concordia Texas will now take on ETBU in the next round of the NCAA Regional with a spot to the championship series on the line. First pitch is set for 11am.
