ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team was impressive in their season opening, 4-0 exhibition win. A total of four Tornados found the back of the net at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Thursday.
The Tornados shined offensively as they outshot the Jaguars 30-8. Strong defensive play by the backline helped keepers
Sheridan Habeeb (first half) &
Lora Tresco (second half) preserve a clean sheet.
Madelynn Murphy found
Alex Smithwick for the first goal of the match in the 17th minute.
Maddie Oberholtzer connected with
Emma Payne in the 36th, before Payne returned the favor to Oberholtzer to make it a 3-0 lead in the 44th. As both teams fired shots in the second half,
Hannah Loya tallied the final goal of the match in the last minute.
Concordia Texas will continue their preseason campaign with a scrimmage at St. Edward's this Saturday at 9am.
