AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team was downed by a score of 83-78 against Trinity University. The trio of Destiny Mathews, Kiki Gonzales, & Madison Martinez all reached double figures inside the Deb & Don Christian Center on Sunday.
Trinity raced out to a 15-6 lead through the first seven minutes of action, but Concordia would close out the quarter strong with a 12-4 burst. They would then capture their first lead of the game at 25-23 when Jazlyn Braithwaite found Gonzales at the top of the key at the 7:58 mark of the second quarter.
A late run by the Tigers put them back up by seven, but two straight threes by Ellie Haas & Mathews would make it a 37-36 game heading into the break.
Trinity gained separation with another run that saw them go up to their largest lead lead of the game (58-43) at the 1:44 mark. Concordia would respond with a furious rally where their deficit was reduced to 81-78 with 10 seconds left, but the Tigers would knock down a pair of free throws to put the game away.
