AUSTIN, Texas - In the first game in over a month, the Concordia Texas women's basketball team showed no rust in a 82-49 dominant performance against Howard Payne. Destiny Mathews led all players with game-highs of 27 points & five steals in the wire-to-wire victory inside Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse on Thursday.

Kiki Gonzales found Madison Martinez in the corner for a three that capped off an 11-3 run to open up the game. CTX would extend their lead to double digits at the 3:18 mark with another three by Katelyn Tietjen as another run would see them in command with a 24-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Concordia scored the first five points of the second quarter, before a comeback attempt by the Yellowjackets cut the score to 29-15 with just under six minutes left in the first half. The Tornados would then surge ahead with a 21-6 burst for a 50-21 lead heading in the half. CTX would continue to be solid in the second half en route to the 33-point win.
