AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's basketball team dominated in a rematch against LeTourneau University by a score 84-65. Madison Martinez led the way for the Tornaods with game-highs & season-highs of 16 points & nine rebounds inside the Deb & Don Christian Center on Saturday.
Concordia came out clicking on all cylinders as they surged ahead to a 16-0 lead through the first five and a half minutes of the first quarter. Continuing to extend their lead, they would carry a 31-8 advantage into the second frame.
The Tornados' lead would reach as much as 28 points, but the Yellowjackets would begin to chip away and make it a 45-24 game heading into halftime. LeTourneau would outpace the Tornaods to start the second half as well as they came as close as 12 points with 8:50 remaining in the game.Â
Concordia would get back on track as Katelyn Tietjen found Taysie Trejo for a corner three that initiated another run to put on the finishing touches on the wire-to-wire victory.
