AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team kept its perfect start rolling, defeating East Texas Baptist 100-89 inside the Deb and Don Christian Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon. The Tornados leaned on explosive offense and defensive pressure, with two starters scoring over 20 points and the bench contributing 31 points.
Concordia came out strong, shooting 56 percent in the first half and building a 10-point lead at the break. East Texas Baptist battled with efficient shooting of their own, hitting 54 percent from the floor and scoring 56 points in the paint. But the Tornados countered with 26 points off turnovers and 31 fast-break points to maintain control throughout.
The Tornados dictated the tempo, turning defense into offense and capitalizing on transition opportunities. East Texas Baptist kept pace with balanced scoring across their lineup, but Concordia's ability to force mistakes and convert them into quick buckets proved decisive.
