AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team fell in a tight, 3-2 contest against Trinity University. Starting pitcher Rowdy Hoadley pitched a gem as he allowed zero earned runs in 6.0 innings and struck out six batters at Gardner-Boggs Field on Sunday.
The Tigers put their first two batters on base and in scoring position in the first, but the Tornados would leave the inning unscathed with a lineout double play to cap off.
CTX would strike first in the bottom of the fifth when a sacrifice fly by Logan Smith scored Sutton Lee (pinch running for Bo Dinscore). The Tigers would respond and tie the game in the top of the sixth.Â
With Landon Hyle on third in the bottom of the seventh, Smith brought him home with a groundout RBI. Trinity would answer again in the top of the eighth and plate two to take the lead. This would prove to be the final run of the game as the Tigers would hold on for the victory.
Concordia Texas will next host Hardin-Simmons this Tuesday, March 4th. First pitch is set for 6pm.
