AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team won a 7-6 contest against Hardin-Simmons University. Aaron Gomez went 3-4 with two runs as the Tornaods' bullpen combined for seven strikeouts at Gardner-Boggs Field on Tuesday.
The Cowboys notched a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Concordia responded with one run in the bottom half as Gomez capitalized on a wild pitch. A homerun by Hardin-Simmons put them up 3-1 after two. CTX would tie the game up following a RBI-double by Colby Christian that scored Gomez & a sac fly by Kalen Clark to rounded Christian home.
The Tornaods would take their first lead of the game in the fourth off a RBI-bunt single by Zach Seigrist that scored Eric Garcia. Later in the frame, a pair of RBIs by Gomez & Christian scored Austin Pryor & Seigrist for a 6-3 advantage.
The Cowboys responded with three runs in the sixth to the tie the game, but CTX would answer the bell once again as Mason Vasquez doubled down the left field line to score Clark & put CTX up 7-6. Concordia would go on to secure the final six outs and earn the victory.
