Baseball Earns Two Run-Rule Victories Over Centenary

Colby Christian & Landon Hyle homered, while Dakota Palmer tossed a career-high 122 pitches.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team completed the series sweep with a pair of run-rule victories in a doubleheader against Centenary College. Colby Christian & Landon Hyle homered, while Dakota Palmer tossed a career-high 122 pitches in game one at Gardner-Boggs Field on Saturday.

GAME ONE: W, 12-2 (8 Innings)

Both teams went scoreless until Christian broke the game open with his two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth. Later in the inning, Matthew Armes connected on a RBI-single through the right side to score Sutton Lee. 

Armes would then make it 4-0 as he capitalized on a balk, scoring from third. Continuing the dominant frame for CTX was Zach Seigrist with a two-RBI double that brought home Austin Pryor & Jess Lollar. Zach Seigrist would then make it 7-0 as he scored off a wild pitch.

Later in the bottom of the sixth, Clark powered a RBI-single to right field and scored Seigrist for an 8-0 lead. The Gents would cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh, but CTX would answer with a solo shot from Landon Hyle in the bottom of the inning. 

Armes extended the lead to 10-2 with another RBI-single that scored Christian in the eighth. Finishing off game one was Pryor with a two-RBI double scoring Hyle & Armes to secure the run-rule victory.

GAME TWO: W, 14-4 (7 Innings)

Centenary would take their first lead of the series with a run in the top of the second, but CTX tied the game with a Carson Riley RBI-single that scored Eric Garcia. They would then take the lead with a Seigrist RBI-groundout to score Pryor. Upping the score to 3-1 was Armes when he powered a RBI-double to left and scoring Riley to end the first.

The Gents would answer and reclaim the lead with three runs in the third. The Tornados loaded the bases in the fourth and tied the game with a RBI-walk for Clark, advancing Riley home. Mason Vasquez would then bloop in a RBI-single to score Armes. 

Hyle would also collect a walk-RBI to assist Clark home for a 6-4 lead. Eric Garcia would punch a two-RBI single to left and bring Christian & Lee home to make it 8-4. Pryor would bring home the sixth run with a groundout-RBI and score Hyle for a 9-4 score. Armes would earn the third RBI/walk of the frame to make it 10-4 heading into the fifth.

Keeping up the momentum, Garcia scored Christian as he connected on a RBI-triple in the fifth. Loading the bases again in the sixth, Clark tallied a RBI-fielder's choice for a 12-4 advantage. Bo Dinscore would then single through the left side to advance Armes home. Pinch hitting and collecting a RBI-walk was Ty Klaus-Kisamore scoring Clark for the 10-run rule lead as CTX would go on to complete the series sweep.
