RICHARDSON, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team was outlasted in a gritty 6-5 decision at UT Dallas. The Tornados posted a valiant comeback attempt with four runs scored in the eighth at the UT Dallas Baseball Field on Tuesday.
The Comets jumped ahead early with a pair of runs in the second and third for a 4-0 lead. CTX would go on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a
Jake Townsend RBI-single to right field to score
Landon Hyle.Â
UT Dallas answered with a run in the bottom of the frame and another run in the fifth to go up 6-1. Showing resilience in the eighth inning, the Tornados loaded the bases and capitalized with a two-RBI single from
Jess Lollar to score Hyle and
Eric Garcia.
Later in the inning, Gomez would tally another two-RBI single to bring home Townsend and
Austin Pryor for a 6-5 score. These would be the final runs of the game in the matchup as the Comets would escape with the win.
Concordia Texas will have a week off before returning home for a rematch with UT Dallas next Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4pm.
