AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team completed a series sweep with a 12-2 win over the University of Dallas. The Tornados earned their third straight run-rule victory at Gardner-Boggs Field on Sunday.
Dallas struck first with a run scored in the top of the second. Concordia Texas immediately responded in the bottom of the frame when Austin Pryor doubled off the right field wall to score Jett Warner & Landon Hyle. Samuel Ortiz then singled up the middle to escort Pryor home. Ortiz would then capitalize on a throwing error for a 4-1 lead entering the third.
The Crusaders threatened to cut into the deficit by loading the bases with two outs in the top of the fourth, but Ralph Wallace III would check in and force a fly out to keep the score 4-1.
Concordia would extend the lead in the bottom of the fourth with another RBI-double for Pryor that scored Warner. Later in the inning, Pryor scored on a wild pitch and an Ortiz sac fly scored Carson Riley for a 7-1 advantage.
Dallas once again juiced the bases with only one out in the top of the sixth, but CTX would keep the score the same with two outs. The Crusaders recorded a run scored in the top of the seventh, but CTX once again responded with a two-RBI double by Landon Hyle to extended the lead to 9-2. Concordia would load the bases and score the final three runs on walked batsmen to end the game.
Concordia Texas will now begin a new home series against Schreiner next Friday, February 20th. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
