AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team opened up the series against Schreiner University with a Bo Dinscore walk-off homerun in a 6-4 win. Sophomore Gabe Guitterez earned the win in a relief effort at Gardner-Boggs Field on Friday.
The Tornados struck first in the first inning when they loaded the bases with only one out. A RBI-walk for Hunter Smith scored Jett Warner, and sac fly to the warning track by Landon Hyle scored Kalen Clark to make it 2-0.
Concordia added two more runs in the third capitalizing with two sacrifices, an error, and a wild pitch that scored H. Smith & Hyle. The Mountaineers broke through on the scoreboard with three runs in the fourth.
After four scoreless frames, Schreiner tied the game at 4-all in the top of the fourth. The Moutaineers looked poised to take the lead on a base hit up the middle, but Ty Klaus-Kismore fired a 300-foot toss on the money to Carson Riley for the out.
Concordia would then put the winning run on base with a leadoff single from Warner. Dinscore would then step up to the plate and collect the two-run walk-off homer to claim game one.
Concordia Texas & Schreiner will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow, February 21st. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
