AUSTIN, Texas — Concordia Texas baseball rallied from an early deficit to defeat McMurry 7–6 in 10 innings. Logan Smith homered, and the Tornados held McMurry scoreless for the final seven frames on Friday evening at Gardner-Boggs Field.
McMurry struck first and built an early advantage, scoring one run in the first inning before adding three more in the second on a home run and extra-base hits. The War Hawks extended the lead to 6–0 in the third inning.
Concordia began chipping away in the bottom half of the inning when Kalen Clark delivered an RBI single and Hunter Smith added a sacrifice fly to bring the Tornados within four.
Smith cut the deficit to 6–3 with a solo home run in the fourth inning before Concordia completed the comeback in the sixth. Carson Riley and Kolten McDaniel both reached base to start the rally before Louis Alonzo drove in two runs with a double to left center. Jett Warner followed with an RBI single to tie the game at 6–6.
The game remained tied through the ninth as Concordia's bullpen kept McMurry off the board. Jake Runnells & Jackson Low delivered four scoreless innings of relief before Ralph Wallace III entered in the 10th and retired the side to give the Tornados a chance to win it.
In the bottom of the inning, McDaniel singled and stole second to spark the rally. After two walks loaded the bases, Jake Townsend drew a walk to force in the winning run and complete the comeback.
Concordia Texas & McMurry will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
