CONWAY, Arkansas - The Concordia Texas baseball team was downed by a score of 6-5 in walk-off fashion at Hendrix College.
Landon Hyle homered and
Logan Smith scored twice at Warrior Field on Saturday.
The Tornados jumped out early, plating three runs in the second inning to take control. Carson Riley got CTX on the board with an RBI single, followed by a run-scoring fielder's choice from Kolten McDaniel and a sacrifice fly from Louis Alonzo to make it 3-0.
CTX added to the lead in the third when Hyle launched a solo home run to left field, extending the advantage to 4-0.
Hendrix chipped away in the fourth with a two-run homer, but Concordia maintained the lead deep into the game. The Tornados added an insurance run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Gavin Caldwell to push the lead to 5-2.
On the mound, Thomas Greenlees and Austin Pryor combined to hold Hendrix scoreless through the first three innings, while the bullpen worked through traffic to keep CTX in front into the late innings.
However, Hendrix rallied in the eighth, scoring two runs to cut the deficit to one. In the ninth, the Warriors completed the comeback with a two-out, two-run single to walk it off and hand Concordia the loss.
Concordia Texas will remain on the road for a non-conference game against Trinity this Tuesday, March 31st. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
