Baseball Takes Down Trinity on the Road

Kalen Clark homered on Tuesday.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team picked up a big 5-4 road win at Trinity University. Kalen Clark launched his sixth homerun of the season as the win at Trinity Baseball Field on Tuesday marked the first ever time that Concordia Texas won at Trinity (0-3 previously).

The Tornados responded early after Trinity struck first, tying the game in the second inning on a wild pitch before breaking things open in the third. Samuel Ortiz delivered an RBI single, and Clark followed with a two-run home run to give CTX a 4-1 lead.

Trinity battled back, scoring once in the fifth and adding two in the sixth to even the game at 4-4.

After a scoreless stretch from both sides, Concordia regained the lead in the ninth. Logan Smith led off with a single and stole second before advancing to third. Kolten McDaniel then executed a sacrifice bunt that brought home the go-ahead run, giving CTX a 5-4 advantage.

The Tornados' bullpen was key down the stretch, as Jake Runnells and Chase North combined to shut the door. North earned the win, striking out three over the final 1.1 innings to secure the victory.

Clark led the offense with two hits and two RBI, while Ortiz and Smith each added two hits in the win.

Concordia Texas will next head to Belton, Texas to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor this Thursday, April 2nd. First pitch is scheduled for 6pm.
