Baseball Downed in Doubleheader at LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Concordia Texas baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to LeTourneau on Thursday afternoon at Conrad Vernon Field, falling 12-5 in game one and 10-0 in seven innings in game two.

Game One: L, 12-5

The Tornados struck first in the opener when Landon Hyle delivered an RBI single in the top of the first inning to score Kolten McDaniel and give CTX an early 1-0 lead. LeTourneau responded in the second with a solo home run before breaking the game open with a five-run third inning.

The YellowJackets continued to build their lead with three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to extend the advantage to 11-1.

Concordia mounted a late push in the seventh inning. Kalen Clark doubled to center to bring home Jake Townsend, and the Tornados added another run on a wild pitch. Logan Smith later delivered a two-RBI single through the left side to trim the deficit to 11-5, but LeTourneau answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to seal the 12-5 final.

Game Two: L 10-0 (7 Innings)

In game two, LeTourneau used another big inning to take control early. The YellowJackets scored five runs in the third inning, taking advantage of multiple hits and an error to build a 5-0 lead.

LeTourneau added single runs in the fourth and seventh innings while scoring two more in the fifth to extend the margin. Concordia was unable to generate offensive momentum as the YellowJackets secured a 10-0 run-rule victory in seven innings.

Concordia Texas and LeTourneau will conclude the series with game three tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
