BOX SCORE CONWAY, Arkansas - The Concordia Texas women's tennis team upended Hendrix College by a score of 4-0 to earn their eighth win in a row.
Emily Pullen earned the clinch to help CTX notch the second seed at the SCAC Tournament.
In doubles, the Tornados secured the point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Valerie Sanchez and Emily Pullen led the way with a 6-2 victory at No. 2, followed by Kailey Albrecht and Alyssa Estrella grinding out a 7-5 win at No. 3. At the top spot, Aria Moreni and Johanna Winkler battled but fell in a tight three-set match, 7-6, 6-0.
Concordia dominated singles play, sweeping all completed matches in straight sets. Winkler rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Sanchez controlled her match at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Pullen then capped it off at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
With the two-seed clinched entering the conference tournament next weekend, Concordia Texas has earned an automatic bye into the SCAC semifinals. The Tornados will play an opponent TBD next Saturday, April 25th at Schreiner University. First serve is scheduled for 9am.
