Women’s Tennis Earns Multiple All-SCAC Honors Following Historic 2026 Season

Winkler and Sanchez named First Team All-SCAC as Tornados earn first ITA national ranking in program history and advance to SCAC Championship match.

SUWANEE, Georgia — Following a trip to their first ever conference championship appearance, the Concordia Texas women's tennis team earned multiple postseason honors. CTX posted a historic 2026 season that saw the Tornados win nine of their final 10 matches and earn the program's first-ever ITA National Ranking at No. 73.

Johanna Winkler and Valerie Sanchez were both named First Team All-SCAC in singles play, while the doubles duo of Sanchez and Emily Pullen earned Second Team All-SCAC honors. Sanchez and Pullen also collected SCAC All-Tournament Team recognition as a doubles team, while Kailey Albrecht earned All-Tournament Team honors in singles play.

Winkler led the Tornados at the No. 1 singles position throughout the season and finished the year with victories in nine of her final 11 completed matches. Her season included wins over opponents from St. Thomas, LeTourneau, Southwestern, Hardin-Simmons, Ozarks, and Hendrix as she helped guide CTX to the SCAC Championship match. Winkler was also named SCAC Singles Player of the Week on March 3 after a pair of victories at No. 1 singles.

Sanchez put together an impressive season of her own, winning nine singles matches while competing primarily at the No. 2 position. She closed the year with victories in eight of her final 10 completed matches, highlighted by a 7-6, 6-0 semifinal win over St. Thomas in the SCAC Tournament. Sanchez also earned SCAC Singles Player of the Week honors on March 30 after helping lead CTX to wins over St. Thomas and LeTourneau.

In doubles play, Sanchez and Pullen formed one of the conference's top pairings. The duo won eight matches together and closed the season winning seven of their final eight completed contests. Their season was highlighted by a 6-4 victory over St. Thomas in the SCAC Tournament semifinals, helping send the Tornados to the conference championship match. The pair also earned SCAC Doubles Team of the Week honors on February 9 after opening the season with a dominant 6-0 victory over Texas Lutheran.

Albrecht earned SCAC All-Tournament Team honors after a dominant performance in the semifinals against St. Thomas, where she posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles.

Concordia Texas will look to build off their successful season in the fall.
