AUSTIN, Texas - In what was Senior Day at Gardner-Boggs Field, the Concordia Texas baseball team conquered the University of St. Thomas by a score of 7-3. With the win, the Tornados secured the three-seed entering the SCAC Tournament next week.

The Celts struck first in the opening inning, but Concordia answered in the third, tying the game on an RBI from Samuel Ortiz.

St. Thomas briefly regained the lead in the fourth, but the Tornados responded immediately with a two-run inning, highlighted by a clutch two-RBI single from Jake Townsend to go up 3-2.

The game broke open in the sixth. Concordia plated four runs, with RBI hits from Jett Warner and Logan Smith, along with aggressive baserunning and situational hitting stretching the lead to 7-2.

On the mound, a bullpen-by-committee effort kept St. Thomas in check after the early innings. Austin Pryor earned the win with 3.1 scoreless innings, while the staff combined to limit the damage and hold the lead late.

Ortiz led the offense with two hits, while Townsend drove in two runs in a key moment. Concordia capitalized on its opportunities and controlled the game after the middle innings to secure the win.

With the conclusion of the regular season, Concordia Texas will now shift their focus to the SCAC Tournament where they will enter as the three-seed. The Tornados will take on either an opponent in the first round next Thursday, April 30th (double-elimination format). First pitch is scheduled for 11am.
