AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team picked up a doubleheader sweep over Ozarks, using a mix of timely hitting and strong pitching to secure both wins.
Jett Warner launched a grand slam and
Kalen Clark homered twice at Gardner-Boggs Field on Thursday.
GAME ONE, W 4-3
The Tornados battled through a lengthy contest that included a lightning delay, ultimately earning a 4-3 victory. Concordia answered early after falling behind, highlighted by Clark's solo home run in the first.
The offense added two runs in the third and another in the fourth, with Carson Riley playing a key role at the plate, finishing with two hits including a triple and scoring a run.
On the mound, the Tornados pieced together the game with multiple arms. Jake Runnells provided a key scoreless relief outing, Travis Brick earned the win, and Jackson Low shut the door with four strong innings to secure the save.
GAME TWO, W 13-3 (7 Innings)
After trading runs in the first, the Tornados broke the game open with an eight-run third inning. Warner delivered the biggest swing with a grand slam as part of a four-RBI performance, while Louis Alonzo led the way with three hits and four RBIs.
Clark added a two-run homer, and Samuel Ortiz and Josh Atomanczyk each had multi-hit games to fuel the 12-hit attack.
On the mound, Austin Pryor was dominant in relief, tossing six innings while allowing just two runs and striking out five to earn the win.
Overall, Concordia combined for 17 runs on 19 hits across the doubleheader, improving their position in conference play with a complete team performance.
Concordia Texas & the Ozarks will conclude the series with game three tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
