ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia University Texas volleyball team fell to Hardin-Simmons University in four sets Tuesday night inside the Mabee Complex.
After dropping the opening two sets, Concordia responded with its best offensive performance of the night in the third. The Tornados totaled 17 kills with just four errors on 44 attacks, hitting .295 to take the frame, 25-22, and extend the match.
Brooklynne Fitzgerald paced the CTX attack with a team-high 13 kills while adding two service aces and seven digs. Aubrey Hughes followed with eight kills, while Olivia Vu finished with seven. Kennedy Carter was efficient on the attack, recording five kills without an error on 19 swings for a .263 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Jade Romero led the Tornados with 17 digs and added four assists and an ace. McKinley Grimm posted a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs while also serving an ace. Aniyah Tompkins added 13 assists as Concordia finished with 35 assists on 39 kills.
Concordia Texas will next begin SCAC play where they will head to Houston to take on St. Thomas this Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 2pm.
