PINEVILLE, La. - Concordia University Texas baseball worked with three Tornado pitchers to combine on a shutout win over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon. Concordia allowed only six Wildcat hits on their way to a 6-0 win. Concordia is now 5-3 overall while Louisiana College falls to 3-5.

Louisiana College's offense struggled to muster anything against Concordia starter Ben Whitely. Whitely (2-0) cruised through seven innings allowing only four hits, no walks and six strikeouts.

Pete Ontiveros and Stephen Szkotak each threw a scoreless inning of relief to close it out for the Tornados.

Concordia scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth and ninth innings. In the second inning Concordia scored two runs after Cmerek led off with a single followed by a Szkotak single and a Justin Beasley double.

Senior Nick Cmerek led the Tornados with three hits and an RBI.

Louisiana College pitcher Justin Reed (1-2) was tagged with the loss after allowing Concordia's three runs, on five hits in three innings of work.

As a team the Tornados finished with 13 hits and two errors in the victory.

Concordia will return to action at home against Huston-Tillotson at 2PM on Tuesday Feb. 24 at Nelson Field in Austin.
