AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia University Texas women's soccer is no longer among the ranks of the unbeaten teams after Mississippi College handed the Tornados (2-1-2, 1-1-0 ASC) a 4-0 loss Saturday afternoon.
The Tornados were able to hold the Lady Choctaws (3-3-0, 1-1-0 ASC) in check for two-thirds of the first half until Kimberly Kaim took a ball that bounced out of the hands of CTX goalkeeper #Teysha Sivage#'s hands during a collision and guided into the back of the empty net in the 31st minute. Sivage was injured on the play and missed the remainder of the contest.
Freshman goalkeeper #Amanda Benton#, who took over for the Tornados in place of Sivage, was rudely welcomed to the match by the Lady Choctaws as Arnia Wallace collected a ball on a pass from Hannah Langley and shot it over the outstretched hands of Benton in the 39th minute.
With a 2-0 lead after halftime, Mississippi College applied more pressure to the already banged up CTX defense. In the 50th minute, the Lady Choctaws made the score 3-0 after Langley found the back of the net on a nicely placed shot from 35 yards out.
Mississippi College extended the lead to four goals as Christa Sutter drove home a crossing pass off the foot of Hollye Henderson, clinching the conference road win.
Concordia Texas was outshot by the Lady Choctaws, 21-6.
Benton recorded four saves for CTX, while Sivage managed three saves before her injury.
The Tornados, who had their school record four-game unbeaten streak snapped today, will look to get back on track on Friday, Sept. 25 in a road contest at McMurry University in Abilene.
