TYLER, Texas --- Three first-half goals proved to be too much for the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team to overcome, as the University of Texas-Tyler took home a 3-0 victory Saturday afternoon at the Citizen's First Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The loss brings CTX's record to (8-5-1, 5-3-1 ASC) while UTT improves to (10-3-0, 8-1-0 ASC).

Saturday's match-up between two of the American Southwest Conference's top three teams was not supposed to come with so much importance. Perennial powerhouse Texas-Tyler entered the contest with its only conference loss coming to # 3 Hardin-Simmons while Concordia was ranked tenth in the ASC pre-season poll.

Since that time CTX has already knocked off five ASC clubs and outscored its opponents 31 to 16.
With perhaps a regional ranking on the line, Concordia was unable to take another step forward in its record breaking year.

In the first period Texas-Tyler found control of the game early firing a dangerous shot in the 14th minute that was saved by CTX goalkeeper Tyler Steinbach. The Tornados would answer back with a scoring opportunity of its own as a Taylor Franklin shot was deflected by a UTT defender.

Texas-Tyler took a 1-0 advantage when Analiz Medina unleashed a shot that found the back corner of the net in the 25th minute. The Patriots continued to push the ball toward the CTX backline and reeled in its second goal just minutes later on an Emily Bechdol goal.

UTT outshot Concordia 13-1 in the first period and would later receive an insurance goal from Kasey Kemp to seal up the 3-0 victory.

Concordia was able to manage four shots in the match with Chastity Carrillo recording the Tornados only shot on goal. Tyler Steinbach made five saves as the freshman faced 20 shots from the Patriots.

The Tornados will be back at home this week as Corey Holton's squad faces Texas-Dallas Thursday in a 1:00 p.m. contest. CTX will then host senior day on Saturday versus the University of the Ozarks. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
