BELTON, Texas --- The Concordia University men's soccer team had # 24 ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor on the ropes for much of Saturday's match until a perfectly placed free kick from Bo Baker gave The Cru a 2-1 overtime victory in a crucial American Southwest Conference match in Belton.

The loss brings CTX's record to 3-4-0, 1-3-0 while UMHB improves to 5-2-0, 2-2-0 on the year.

A Mary Hardin-Baylor team that was ranked as high as # 7 this year, took advantage of two free kick opportunities to allow The Cru to escape with a 2-1 win in a match that was vastly controlled by the aggressive play of the Tornados.

CTX took an early lead when Drew Kasper took a through ball and found the back of the net in the 15th minute. Later in the period UMHB's Trevor Shoppach drilled home a free kick from well outside the box, leading to a 1-1 tie as both teams headed into the half.

The Tornados experienced two near-misses as Brian Friend struck the post in the 62nd minute and teammated Piri Rabadan missed wide from the left box causing the match to be tied at the 90 minute mark.

In the second overtime period Bo Baker struck a free kick into the upper 90 that allowed UMHB to sneak away with a 2-1 victory. Oscar Diaz and Briend Friend each recorded two shots while goalkeeper Jacob Stern stopped five UMHB shots in the match for Concordia.

The Tornados will have an opportunity to avenge the loss as they host Texas Lutheran Thursday at 1:00 p.m. followed by a match-up with Texas Lutheran Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Both matches will be held at St. Stephen's Field in Austin.
