WAXAHACHIE, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team picked up its second consecutive victory on Monday night, holding off Nelson University for a 2-1 road win. The Tornados improved to 3-2 on the season.

Enoch Morebise put Concordia on the board in the 16th minute, finding the back of the net on a free kick just outside the top of the box to give CTX an early 1-0 advantage. Morebise remained active throughout the match, finishing with a team-high three shots, all three on goal.

The Tornados carried the one-goal advantage into halftime behind a strong defensive effort. Leonel Cuellar made a pair of first-half saves, including a stop in the 35th minute to keep Nelson off the scoreboard.

Nelson increased the pressure after halftime, but Cuellar continued to turn away the Lions. He recorded five saves in the second half, including stops in the 48th, 63rd and 75th minutes.

Concordia found an insurance goal in the 80th minute. Ayden Hildreth connected with Edmond Elone, who finished the opportunity to extend the CTX advantage to 2-0. Elone finished the night with two shots and his second goal in as many matches, while Hildreth recorded the assist.

Nelson answered with a penalty-kick goal in the 86th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Lions generated one final shot on goal in the 89th minute, but Cuellar made the save to preserve the road victory.

Cuellar finished with seven saves while allowing just the penalty-kick goal. Concordia totaled nine shots with four on goal, while Nelson finished with 11 shots and eight attempts on frame.

Concordia Texas will next travel to Kerrville, Texas to take on Schreiner this Friday, September 18th. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
