Richardson, Texas –
Mohamed Diallo has been named the American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Oct. 31. The sophomore is being honored with the award for the second time this season.
A native of Dakar, Senegal, Diallo became the program's all-time leading scorer by scoring three of the team's four goals over an undefeated 1-0-1 week. Diallo netted one goal in a 2-2 double-overtime tie with Mississippi College on Thursday, Oct. 27 before scoring both markers for the Tornados in a 2-1 overtime victory over Louisiana College.
By scoring the golden goal against the Wildcats in the 99th minute of action, Diallo became the Concordia's men's soccer program's all-time points leader in his first year with 26 on 11 goals and four assists. He also ended the season ranked tied for first all-time for career goals scored.
Concordia completed its best season in school history under first-year head coach Tatenda Chieza. The Tornados, who had never posted more than five overall victories and three conference wins in a season prior to this year, won six matches overall and in ASC action this season. The squad also finished with a winning ledger in league play for the first time ever.
