Christian Fredrickson scored his first career goal as time expired in regulation to lift the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over LeTourneau on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Vandegrift High School's Monroe Stadium. The Tornados notched their fifth victory of the season, which matches a school record, and kept themselves in a position to make what would be their first-ever appearance in the American Southwest Conference Tournament.

Concordia, which also won its fifth conference match after having never won more than three league matches prior to this season, got on the board first when Taylor Granato finished a pass from Sebastian Parra by shooting the ball through a mob of Yellow Jacket defenders. LeTourneau, which was outshot 13-12 in an evenly played affair, was able to net the equalizer when ASC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Dillon Holt scored on a penalty kick in the 86th minute.

But with the match destined for overtime and the final seconds ticking down, the Tornados were able to find a way to come away with their third victory in four matches. Mohammed Diallo chipped a pass over to Christian Fredrickson, who fired a shot from the left side of the box to the far post as time expired for his first career goal before being mobbed by his teammates.

Concordia's Jacob Stern earned the victory in net by making three saves on 12 opportunities. LeTourneau's (3-6-2, ASC 3-2-0) Kyle Davis stopped four of the 13 shots he faced in the losing effort.

Concordia (5-4-1, ASC 5-2-1), which earned its first victory over LeTourneau in 10 tries, will continue its four-game homestand when it hosts Texas-Tyler at St. Stephen's on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.

Notes: Concordia, which has never won more than five matches overall or three in conference play in a single season, is already on pace to completely rewrite its recordbooks ... The team has already won five conference matches this fall … Mohamed Diallo matched a single-season program record by notching his 16th career point on the game-winning goal … He is on pace to set single-season marks in all three major scoring categories.
