Austin, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's basketball team will make its fifth straight appearance in the American Southwest Conference Tournament, which runs from Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27. The Tornados, who are seeded fourth in the West Division, will face host Texas-Dallas, the top-seeded team in the East Division, in the last of four quarterfinal games on Friday at 7:30 p.m. with the winner playing a semifinal game against either Mary Hardin-Baylor or Texas-Tyler on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. A live audio broadcast will be provided with De Hansen calling all of the action for Tornado fans, while UT-Dallas is slated to webcast the entire tournament.

Concordia (15-10, ASC 13-8), which holds a 2-4 record all-time in the event and is 5-5 against the tournament field this season, has been guided by its offense which ranks second in the nation and first in the ASC (93.2 ppg). Stan Bonewitz's team has topped the 100-point mark eight times this season and is 6-2 in its last eight road games. Sophomore Tayler Jacobs is the Tornados' leading scorer, averaging 15.1 points per game, and is also first on the team in assists (4.3 pg). His scoring and assists marks rank eighth and third in the ASC, respectively. Classmate Nick Haynes, who is second in the ASC with a 42.6 3-point shooting percentage, is the Tornados' second leading scorer at 12.3 points per game and has scored at an 18.0 clip over the past two games. Josh Johnson and Darius Anderson average 11.7 and 11.0 points per game, respectively, while Johnson, who registered a double-double in the regular-season finale against Schreiner, is fourth in the league in blocked shots (1.4 pg). Freshman Chris McOmber has emerged as an inside and outside scoring threat since lighting up for 23 points, including 21 in the second half, and 10 rebounds in a 98-91 road victory over Hardin-Simmons which punched the Tornados' ticket to the tournament. He is accounting for 13.7 points and 7.7 boards over the last three contests while shooting 50 percent (4-for-8) from beyond the arc.

Texas-Dallas (20-5, ASC 16-4) is riding a league-best nine-game winning streak and will look to become the fifth straight host to win the tournament this weekend and seventh straight to at least advance to the championship game since the field expanded to eight teams in 2005. The Comets are the only ASC team to defeat the Tornados by double figures this season, winning 101-74 at the Field House on Thursday, Jan. 6. Junior forward Chris Barnes paces the squad and averages 18.1 points and 7.0 rebounds, which are both team highs. His scoring mark is also third in the league. In addition, Barnes ranks fourth in the ASC in 3-point field goal percentage (.413) and ninth in field goal percentage (.534). Senior Curtis Davis is second on the squad in scoring (13.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 pg) behind Barnes. Another notable contributor for UT-Dallas, which carries an 8-5 record all-time in the tournament and is making its eighth straight appearance, is Greg Chiasson. The junior point guard scores 10.0 points per game and is fifth in the ASC in assists (3.6 pg).
