- The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team will open up play at the 2012 American Southwest Conference Tournament when it faces Texas-Dallas on the campus of Hardin-Simmons on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. Live video and statistics will be available for fans who can't make it to the HSU Soccer Complex.

After never winning more than five matches in a single season through 2009, Concordia (9-5-3, ASC 7-3-2) will be making its third straight appearance in the American Southwest Conference Tournament and third overall this week. The Tornados are 1-2 all-time in the ASC Tournament and will be playing their fourth postseason match overall and third against Texas-Dallas in Thursday's quarterfinal. Fifth-seeded Concordia has been eliminated by Texas-Dallas in each of its two previous two appearances, which included a 2-0 setback in the semifinal round against the Comets last year.

Jordan James and Chastity Carrillo have paced the Tornado offense this season. James, a sophomore transfer from Wayland Baptist, is the team's leading scorer with 10 goals, including four game-winning tallies, and six assists for 26 points. Two of her game-winning goals have come in double overtime this past month, which included heading home the golden goal in a 2-1 win against Howard Payne last weekend. Carrillo has broken all-time school records for career points and assists this season. The junior enters the tournament as the program's all-time leading scorer with 49 points on 16 goals and 17 assists.

The defense, which has allowed 1.06 goals per game this season while blanking seven opponents, is being led by two-time all-conference performer Dalaine Whitlock, a senior tri-captain, and freshman Sarah Kirkland. Kila Hartom, a freshman, and senior Olivia Jablinski have been splitting the goalkeeping duties this fall. Hartom ranks among the league's best with an .852 save percentage, an 0.79 goals against average and three shutouts.

Texas-Dallas (10-4-2, ASC 7-3-2), which is the fourth seed in the tournament, is making its 11th straight appearance and 13th overall. The Comets won the crown in 2002 and 2004 and more recently earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament last season. The program enters the postseason on a five-match unbeaten streak and has been led by senior Taylor Maeker, who ranks first on the team in goals (5), assists (8) and points this year. Defensively, the Comets have only allowed 15 goals in 16 matches. Brittany Best and Macaire Ament have split goalkeeping duties. They have each blanked two opponents while collectively posting an 0.91 goals against average and a .746 save percentage.

The winner of Thursday's 11 a.m. quarterfinal match will get to play host Hardin-Simmons in Friday's 11 a.m. semifinal. Mississippi College and East Texas Baptist will duel on Thursday at 2 p.m., with the victor going against Texas-Tyler at 2 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals. After a full day off on Saturday, the championship game is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.

The ASC tournament winner earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
