AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Texas-Tyler in an American Southwest Conference (ASC) contest on Saturday night at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
The Tornados (2-9-2, 2-5-1 ASC) managed only three shots on the night, two of which were on target.
The Patriots (8-2-4, 5-2-1 ASC) scored once in the opening period and twice in the final 45 minutes to record the shutout.
Edwin Villatoro headed in the first goal of the game in the 26th minute. Parker Hood (52nd) and David Lopez-Molinar (73rd) each netted scores in the second half to give Texas-Tyler, which had 22 shots on the night, the three-goal advantage.
Concordia Texas will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 31 when it hosts rival Mary Hardin-Baylor in the regular-season finale at Round Rock ISD Stadium. The Tornados can clinch a spot in the ASC Tournament with a win over the Cru, combined with a loss by Ozarks against Texas-Dallas and a LeTourneau loss at Texas-Tyler. Both matches take place on Saturday, Nov. 2.
