BOX SCORE

Richardson, Texas
Tyler Bain went yard for the first time of his career and drove in three runs, but the Concordia University Texas baseball team fell to Texas-Dallas by an 8-3 decision on Friday, March 1 at the UTD Baseball Field.

Both offenses exploded in the early going while the teams exchanged leads twice in the first two innings. The Comets tallied two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Tornados came back to score three in the top of the second frame.

After Jon McManemin singled down the line in right to place runners at first and second, Bain went yard for the first time in his career to put the visitors ahead. Texas-Dallas, however, responded in the bottom half of the same frame by getting RBI hits from Anderson and Saxon to take a 4-3 advantage. The Comets then added two insurance runs in the sixth and the seventh frames to pull away.

Derek Dallas picked up the victory for Texas-Dallas and improved his mark to 2-1 after giving up three runs and 10 hits in seven frames. He also recorded four strikeouts and did not issue any walks. Scott Weinschenk took the loss and dropped his record to 2-3 for Concordia, which was playing its first true road game of the season. He gave up five hits and four runs, including two earned, while striking out three over two innings of work.

Concordia (7-8) and Texas-Dallas (5-8) will wrap up the three-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon. The first game is slated to start at noon.
