Abilene, Texas –
Caitlin Rowlette won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Concordia University Texas women's track & field team at the American Southwest Conference Championships on Friday, Apr. 26 at the HSU Track & Field Complex. The Tornados, who set a school record in all four events they had athletes entered in, stand in fourth place among six schools with 21.5 points after the first day of action.
Rowlette accounted for nearly half of the team's scoring through six events by placing first in the steeplechase with a winning time of 12:16.33. The junior, who broke her own record by 3.21 seconds, posted a time that was nearly 48 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher.
Sydney Getfield,
Kila Hartom and
Cassie Dominguez eclipsed a program standard in their respective field events. Hartom posted a sixth-place mark of 103-feet, 8-inches in the hammer throw, while Dominguez was eighth in the javelin throw after tossing the spear 88-1. Getfield cleared 5-0.25 to tie for fourth in the high jump.
Concordia will finish competing at the championship meet tomorrow morning.
