New Orleans, La. – After placing third with 130.50 points at the American Southwest Conference Championships last weekend, the Concordia University Texas women's track & field team was ranked 10th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South/Southeast Region Poll released on Wednesday, May 1. The Tornados were among two ASC schools ranked in the poll, which encompasses institutions from Texas to Virginia.

Concordia, which recorded its highest finish and point total at the ASC meet without a senior on its roster, has been led by its sprinters and middle distance runners. Andrea Mitchell ranked 19th nationally and fourth in the region in the 100- and 200-meter dash events with marks of 12.21 and 25.18 that she recorded at the ASC Championships. Megan Wagenaar and Alison Pringle placed first and second, respectively, in the 800 at the ASC meet for the second straight year and have run season-best times of 2:16.82 and 2:18.88 in the event. Mitchell and Wagenaar have also anchored the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams that rank among the top six in the region.

Select members of the Concordia women's track & field team, which is regionally ranked for the first time in school history, will compete at the Incarnate Word Last Chance Invitational on Sunday, May 12.
