NEW ORLEANS – The Concordia University Texas women's track and field team was honored as an All-Academic Team, it was announced Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTCCCA). It marked the first time in program history the Tornados achieved the team academic award from the USTCCCA.
"It's a an important achievement," Concordia Texas head coach
Alex Aldaco said. "One of the top items we stress is success in the classroom. This shows our team was dedicated to both academics and athletics last season."
The Tornados were one of 148 teams who earned the distinction as a result of achieving a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.
Concordia Texas logged a cumulative 3.27 GPA during the 2013 spring semester and were one of only two American Southwest Conference programs to receive the prestigious honor.
