IRVING, Texas – Dallas scored a pair of second-half goals and netted a come-from-behind victory over Concordia University Texas on Saturday afternoon at Crusader Field.
The Tornados (1-1) took an early lead when Jordan James found the back of the net in the eighth minute. James was set up by Chastity Carrillo, who recorded her program-leading 18th career assist.
Concordia held on to the advantage until after halftime.
The Crusaders (1-2) pulled even in the 47th minute when Rebecca Brunter scored off an assist from Michelle Carpenter.
Twenty minutes later, Dallas scored the game winner.
The Crusaders sent a corner kick in to the box in the 67th minute and the Tornados attempted to clear the ball. However, Emily Rogers intercepted the attempted clearance and shot towards the goal. The ball hit off the crossbar and found its way across the line to give Dallas the advantage.
Concordia had its opportunities down the stretch. The Tornados took six shots in the final 13 minutes, but could not get the ball past Crusaders goalkeeper Brigid Hasson, who made seven saves on the day.
Dallas outshot CTX, 19-16, and both teams attempted a trio of corner kicks.
James took a team-high seven total shots for Concordia, while Meagan Brown came off the bench to attempt three shots.
Rogers posted a match-high nine shot attempts, including four on target.
Megan Frontiera registered seven stops in net for CTX.
The Tornados will return to action on Sunday at Texas Wesleyan. Kick-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Martin Field in Fort Worth.
