AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's basketball team will attempt to defend its American Southwest Conference Tournament title this weekend in Richardson. The fourth-seeded Tornados will face No. 5-seed Texas-Tyler in a quarterfinal matchup at 5 p.m. at the UTD Activities Center.
Concordia (16-9), which won the 2013 ASC Tournament championship in Richardson, lost its final four games of the regular season. The Tornados, who are making their seventh appearance in the league's postseason tournament, lead the conference in scoring average (87.7 ppg). Junior guard

The Patriots (14-11) have dropped two of their final three regular-season contests, but posted a 95-90 victory over Mississippi College last Saturday. Texas-Tyler is making its sixth apperance in the ASC Tournament, but is in search of its first win outside of the regular season.
The two squads have met two times this season with each team winning on its home floor. Concordia tallied a 104-94 victory on Jan. 11, while the Patriots captured an 80-73 win in the last meeting on Feb. 13.
The winner of the third quarterfinal contest will face either Texas-Dallas or East Texas Baptist in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The ASC Tournament championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
