AUSTIN, Texas – The top-seeded Concordia University Texas baseball team posted a 5-2 victory over No. 3 seed Texas-Dallas in an elimination game of the American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship on Saturday at Tornado Field.

The Tornados (30-13) will face second-seeded LeTourneau (31-12) in the championship. The YellowJackets defeated Concordia Texas, 8-2, in Friday's contest. The Tornados will have to win this afternoon's game and the if necessary contest, scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, to clinch the league's tournament title and automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

Texas-Dallas (27-17) jumped out to an early lead in the elimination game with a run-scoring single from Brandon Clounch.

However, Concordia answered in the bottom of the panel with a sacrifice fly by Estevan Hernandez.

The Tornados added another run on a sac fly by Brandon Hollier in the third.

The Comets pulled even with a run in the fourth, but Concordia again went in front with a sacrifice fly from Cole Calder in the bottom of the stanza.

The Tornados tacked on two insurance runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Connor Bertsch and an RBI bunt single by Gareth Hutton.

Kiel Harmon (6-1) worked seven frames to pick up the win. The right-hander scattered six hits, gave up two runs and struck out five.

Corey Holmes pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game and earn his third save of the campaign.
