BOX SCORE GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team grabbed a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime victory over Southwestern Tuesday evening.
Fabian Billings netted the game winner about two minutes into the second extra period. Billings knocked the ball in off the post past Pirate keeper Travis Carmichael.
Concordia took a 1-0 lead into the halftime locker room on
Carl Linn's first tally of the season late in the first half.
Eric Bigon and Diego Outerial were credited with the assist.
The Tornados were then helped by the Pirates in the 63
rd minute, when a Southwestern defender knocked the ball into his own net on a block attempt. Concordia's
Alejandro Labastida got credit for the goal.
Southwestern would quickly cut the Concordia lead in half, however. With 72 minutes elapsed, Jake Swonke took advantage of a Tornado miscue and put the Pirates on the board.
Southwestern would add another goal off a penalty kick awarded to Christian Lopez with just two minutes remaining in regulation.
The teams had a save each in the first overtime.
Nick Martin took the win in goal for the Tornados.
