BOX SCORE PINEVILLE, La. -- The Concordia Texas women's soccer team grabbed its first win of the season Thursday evening at Louisiana College, edging the Wildcats 2-1 in the American Southwest Conference opener for both squads.
Maddison Hoskins netted the game winning goal with 30 minutes remaining in the second half.
Kila Hartom and the rest of the defense were able to keep the Louisiana College off the board for the remainder of the contest.
The Tornados (1-4, 1-0 ASC) snapped a three-game scoreless streak nearly immediately when
Nicole Henderson put one in the back of net just seven minutes into the contest.
The Wildcats (3-3, 0-1) would draw even with five minutes remaining in the first half on a goal by Jayme Harmon.
The victory was the first for head coach
Brad O'Kelley.
"We're making progress each game. Hopefully we continue to get better as the season progresses," he said.
Concordia remains on the road for a non-conference tilt at Bellhaven Saturday.
