BROWNWOOD, Texas -- The Concordia Texas women's tennis team fell 5-4 in its first match since 2008 at Howard Payne Saturday.
HPU's women (1-0) won all three doubles flights, but Concordia's pairs fought hard.
Cassedy Crawford and Giselle Dallorso fell at the No. 2 line 8-6.
Leyla Martinez, Crawford, Dallorso and
Rean Vanderbilt scored for the Tornados in singles. Martinez and Vanderbilt needed three sets and the No. 1 and No. 6 singles while Crawford needed to settle her first set in a tiebreaker.
Concordia returns to action Feb. 5 at the Schreiner Spring Kickoff Tournament. Their opponents are still to be determined.
