Tornados Drop Road Contest to UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's soccer team were down a man in the second half and unable to recover from an early deficit and fell to UT Tyler 3-0 on Thursday night.

The Tornados fell behind early in the first half as the Patriots' Lucas Pereira found the back of the net in the 16th minute to give them an early lead. UT Tyler would increase their lead minutes later in the 24th minute when Pereira tallied another goal making the score 2-0. Concordia's Diego Outerial drew a red card in the 45th minute and the Tornados were forced to play with 10 men on the field for the second half.

In the second period, Fabian Billings tried to cut the lead in half in the 59th minute, but UTT goalie John McGruffin was there for the save of Concordia's sole shot on goal in the match. The Patriots tacked on another goal in the 70th minute when Leandro Cid Fernandez was able to shoot past goalie Rob Oakley, who had four saves in the match.

Concordia is now 11-4 on the season and 6-3 in conference and will continue their road trip when they travel to Clarksville, Ark., to face Ozarks on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
