CTX Falls Short at Virginia Wesleyan, 101-94

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Concordia Texas Men's Basketball team fell to No. 16 Virginia Wesleyan in their final game of the Marlin Tip-Off Classic, 101-94.

Sophomore Joe Neal finished with 29 points, while sophomore guard Ephriam Price contributed 27 points, both for career highs. Rashad Coleman also posted 18 points for the Tornados and added a game-best 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Virginia Wesleyan's Khory Moore had a game-high 48 points and teammate Tim Jones contributed 22 points.

The Marlins started the game opening up on an 8-3 run two minutes into the half before the Tornados bounced back to take the lead at 19-17 on a 3-point basket by Price. The teams battled the rest of the half but the Tornados emerged with a 52-50 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, the Tornados overcame a deficit to tie the game at 90 with four minutes remaining on a layup by senior Peyton Brown-Simon. But, the Marlins led by Moore, finished the half on an 11-4 spurt to close out the game at 101-94.

The Tornados return to action Monday night as they face Southwestern at 7 p.m. inside the Corbin J. Robertson Center in Georgetown.
