BOX SCORE ALPINE, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak come to a close Saturday afternoon at Sul Ross State as the Lobos won 94-91 over the Tornados.
CTX mustered a big comeback in the second half, overcoming a 14-point deficit. The Tornados (13-8, 7-6 ASC) held an 82-81 lead with 4:28 to go in regulation. Sul Ross (15-8, 10-3) would open up a four-point lead two minutes later, but Concordia would be right there to tie the contest for the 10th time, this time at 88 with 1:24 left.
The Lobos scored the next four straight points before
Donovan Ford brought the Tornados back within a point after converting an old-fashioned 3-point play. SRSU's Rocky Feliciano would then sink a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to put his team up three.
CTX got the ball to Ford on the ensuing inbound pass, who vaulted a 3-point attempt at the buzzer that fell short.
Feliciano would finish with a game-high 32 points off the Sul Ross bench.
Ben Page led the Tornado effort with 16. Ford added 15 and
Joe Neal finished with 13. Page also paced Concordia with seven rebounds.
The Tornados forced 21 Lobo turnovers, including 14 by way of the steal.
Dervyn Baines tallied six of those thefts.
Concordia returns to action Thursday at 7:30 against Hardin-Simmons on Pack the House night.
