AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas women's tennis team fell short in a 6-3 decision Sunday at the Austin Tennis Center to conclude the 2016 home slate.

The Tornados fell to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the ASC West.

"The Tornados put up a valiant effort against the Comets (4-6. 3-0), who are still undefeated in ASC West play," head coach Daniel Whitehead said.
  
The Tornados were up 2-1 after doubles but fell short in all but one singles positions.

Alexis Popovich tallied the only singles point for the Tornados after her impressive play at line four.
She now has a 3-0 record in ASC West play and improved to 5-4 overall in singles.

Concordia travels to Alpine, Texas, for a pair of matches beginning Apr. 7. First up it's the University of the Southwest before an Apr. 8 date with Sul Ross State.
