BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- A first half scoring explosion by Concordia Texas set a school record for goals in a game, winning 7-0 over Louisiana College. The win pushes the Tornados' win streak to six games.
In the first half, junior midfielder Diego Outerial got the scoring going for Concordia in the 12th minute as junior forward Fabian Billings' pass deflected off a defender to Outerial, who shot it left of the Wildcat goalie for his first of two goals on the day. Minutes later, in the 13th minute, Outerial returned the favor to Billings as he found him in the box and Billings put it past the goalie, making the score 2-0.
Outerial found the back of the net once again off another assist from Billings in the 18th minute as the lead grew to 3-0. In the 18th minute, junior forward Alejandro Labastida got in on scoring parade, taking a pass from sophomore midfielder Ronny Garza, and finding the back of the net, extending the lead to 4-0.
Later in the half, the 32nd minute, sophomore forward Omar Aguirre found junior forward Isaiah Coombs on the left side and shot it past the goalie to make it 5-0. The goal also broke the previous school record for goals in a match, surpassing the record of four, which had been tied nine times previously. Just a minute later, the Tornados scored again, as Aguirre was on the receiving end of sophomore defender Nash Cole's pass and into the net as the lead expanded to 6-0. Concordia had 17 shots in the half alone along with 14 corner kicks.
In the second half, the Tornados continued offensively as they added another seven shots and four corner kicks. The lone goal in the half came in the 75th minute as a foul in the box led to Vicente Lizcano converting on a penalty kick.
The six assists in the contest were also a school record for the Tornados. The 20 total points accumulated by Concordia shattered the previous record for points in a game of 12.
The Tornados are now 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference and will head on the road for three straight games. First up, they will face UT Dallas on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
